Bernice A. Marinchak, 87, of West Scranton, passed Sunday at Abington Manor. She was the widow of George E. Marinchak II, who died in 1988. Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late George and Theresa Lewicki Gallagher. Bernice was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School, was a member of St. Patrick's Parish, West Scranton, and had worked as a bookkeeper throughout her working career. She is survived by one son, George E. Marinchak III, with whom she resided; five grandchildren, Christopher and Nicole Rosencrans, Stephen, Stephanie and Cody Cooke, Michael Jr. and Julia Reina, and Mark Marinchak; two great-grandchildren, Michael and Julian Marinchak; a daughter-in-law, Lori Marinchak. Bernice was preceded in death by two sons, Gary and Michael E. Marinchak; two brothers, John "Jack" Gallagher and Richard Lalley; and her daughter-in-law, Diane Marinchak. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church by the Rev. Fr. Richard Fox. Interment will follow in St. Vladimir Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Minooka. Viewing for family and friends will be Wednesday, 4 to 6 p.m., in the Edward J Chomko Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 262 Railroad Ave., West Scranton. Those attending services are asked to wear a mask, practice social distancing and limit physical contact. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Joseph's Center, 2010 Adams Ave., Scranton, PA 18509; or a charity of choice.
