Carlito Martin Diaz, 29, of Scranton, passed away unexpectedly on June 25, 2026, leaving behind a silence that no room will quite know how to fill. Born on June 15, 1997, in Queens, New York, he grew up in Port Jefferson Station, Long Island, shaped by love, care, and protection. Later went on to graduate from Comsewogue High School. From there, he followed a calling that lived deep in his heart — the art of cooking — and built a life in the food service industry doing the work he truly loved.
Carlito carried a rare and beautiful quality: the ability to make anyone feel at home and welcomed the moment they stepped into a room. His presence was its own kind of warmth. He was funny and outgoing, full of a life that spilled over into everyone around him, and his greatest joy was simply seeing the people he loved laugh or smile. Outside the kitchen, he found his happiness in the roar of a game, the quiet company of animals, spending and the shared world of video games with friends. He was, in every sense, someone you were happy to know.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dennis Martin Diaz; his cousin, Nicole Virga; and his younger brother, Devin Taylor Zeininger.
Carlito is survived by his mother, Christina, Step mother Catherine, his brothers, J. Chris and Blaze, his sister, Ashley, Grandparents Jerry and Claire, two aunts; four uncles; and many heartbroken cousins who will carry him with them always.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., with a Celebration of Life Service at 6:30 p.m., officiated by Reverend Ginger Daubenhauser, at the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home & Cremation Services, LLC, 262 Railroad Avenue, West Scranton.
