Eugene Kurey, 82, of Ransom Twp., formerly of Scranton, died Sunday at Geisinger/Wyoming Valley. His wife is Margaret "Marge" Berry Kurey. Born in Taylor, he was the son of the late Michael and Theresa Seneshin Kurey. Educated in West Scranton High School, he retired from Proctor and Gamble, Mehoopany. Gene was a loving husband, father and papa, whose grandchildren were his light. He was an avid Penn State, Eagles and Phillies fan, and was the biggest fan at his grandchildren's sporting events. He is also survived by 1 son, Eugene M. Kurey and wife Natalie, Ransom Twp., 2 daughters, Diane Rachal and husband Daniel, Dunmore, Loriann Marinchak, Scranton, 7 grandchildren, Matthew, Chelsea and Jessica Kurey, Melissa Rachal, Stephanie, Michael Jr., and Mark Marinchak, 2 great granddaughters, 1 sister, Anna Paschuk, Nicholson, nieces, and nephews. He was also preceded in death by 3 brothers, Michael, John and Stephen Kurey, 1 son in law Michael Marinchak. Viewing for family and friends will be on Thursday, from 4 to 7 pm in the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 254-268 Railroad Avenue, West Scranton, with services at 6:45 pm by the Right Rev. Nestor S. Kowal. Committal of cremains will be private.
