George E. Greenfield, 80, of West Scranton, passed on Saturday with his son by his side at Regional Hospital of Scranton. His wife, Marsha Greenfield passed in 2014. Born in Peckville, he is the son of the late Ken and Jamima Matthews. George was educated in Taylor schools, was a United States Marine, having served with 2 ^nd Marine Division, Battery B, 1 ^st Battalion, 10 ^th Marine Field Artillery and retired from Simplex Modular Homes. George is survived by two sons; George E. Greenfield Jr. and wife Leslie, West Scranton, David Greenfield and fiancée Michele Black, Hop Bottom, four grandchildren; Stephen, Casey, James and Joshua Greenfield, two sisters; Helen Naughton, Clarks Summit, Debbie Black and husband Randy, Lake Ariel, two brothers; John Matthews Taylor and Kenneth Matthews, Pleasant Hill, CA and numerous nieces and nephews. A private viewing was held on Thursday. Private inurnment will be in Milwaukee Cemetery. Arrangements were directed under the care of the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 262 Railroad Avenue, West Scranton.
