Obituary

JoAnn Sevensky Mangan, 84, passed away peacefully at home on October 5, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, compassion, strength and love. She was the wife of the late Thomas J. Mangan Jr., who preceded her in death in 2020 after 57 years of marriage.

Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Leo and Catherine Lalko Sevensky.

A true warrior and survivor, JoAnn faced multiple battles with cancer as well as Parkinson’s disease throughout her life with remarkable strength, grace and dignity. Despite all she endured, she continued to greet those around her with a smile and her warm, generous heart.

JoAnn is survived by her daughter, Gail Brown, and husband Daniel, Clarks Summit; her son, Thomas J. Mangan III, Pittston; her two granddaughters, who were her absolute pride and joy, JoAnn Mangan, Hondo, Texas, and Brady Brown, Clarks Summit; and her brother, Brother Robert Sevensky, OHC, West Park, New York.

She was also preceded in death by her brother, Leonard S. Sevensky.

The family would like to thank everyone at Hospice of the Sacred Heart for the compassion and kindness shown to JoAnn, especially Charlene, Leane and Melissa, as well as everyone who played a part in her care.

At JoAnn’s request, there will be no public services. Interment will be private for the immediate family.
