Mark T. Kohut

Mark T. Kohut, a Scranton resident, passed away on Monday, August 10. He was a resident of Embassy of East Mountain in Wilkes-Barre and was 64 years young.

Born in Scranton on October 20, 1961, and is the son of the late Stephen and Kathleen Goff Kohut. Mark graduated from Scranton Technical High School, proudly served in the United States Army for 20 years and retired as a Staff Sergeant in 2001. After retiring from the Army, Mark worked as a mechanic for the next 24 years at Philbin’s Garage in Scranton.

Mark will be remembered in countless ways; the jokes and trips that he shared at family gatherings. He traveled all over country to attend NASCAR races as well as watching his favorite team, the Philadelphia Eagles play. Above all else, Mark loved his family who will forever miss him.

Mark is survived by his loving family, Steve and wife Barbara Kohut, Throop, Sharon and husband John Santarsiero, Dunmore, Gene Kohut, Clarks Summit, Jeff and wife Debbie Kohut, Scranton, Gary and wife Laurie Kohut Scranton and many nieces and nephews.

Mark was preceded in death by his brother Joseph Kohut and sisters Donna Reese, Kimberly Kohut, and Kathleen Kohut.

His family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Geisinger, Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Abington Manor, the Embassy of East Mountain and the wonderful doctors and nurses and staff of the VAA Medical Center in Wilkes-Barre, who contributed to Marks care over the years. A Funeral Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Monday, at 12 noon at St. Vladimir Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, 430 North 7th Avenue, Scranton 18503 by the Rev. Fr. Myron Myronyuk, Pastor. Interment with Military Honors will follow at the parish cemetery. Friends may pay their respects from 11 am to 12 noon in the church.
