Mary Jane Gula, 88, of Scranton died Friday, June 27 at the Jewish Home of Eastern PA. She was the loving wife of George Gula. Born in Scranton, Mary was the daughter of the late Paul and Kathryn Bilan Bayda. She was a graduate of Scranton Central High School, and a graduate of Johnson's Institute in New Jersey. ,Prior to her retirement she worked as a secretary, and was a member of St. Michael's Orthodox Church in West Scranton. She was very active with St. Mary's Sisterhood and enjoyed making pierogi's for her church. Mary was a loving mother, grandmother, and wife. Mary is survived by her husband George Gula, a daughter Karen Wiesen of Danville, PA and husband Arthur Jr of St. Louis, MO, 2 sons George W. Gula and wife Fonda of Pittsburgh PA, Ken Gula and wife Leeanna of Allentown, PA, and 6 grandchildren Arthur III and Rachel Wiesen, Larissa, Nicholas, Kenneth Jr, and Veronica Gula. She was preceded in death by a sister Alice Bayda. Her funeral will be Tuesday morning at 9:30am in the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 262 Railroad Ave, West Scranton to be celebrated by Very Reverend Nestor Kowal. Inturnment will be at St. Michael's Cemetery.
