Patricia M. Gillespie, 61, of North Scranton, died Saturday after being stricken ill at home. Her high school sweetheart and husband of 42 years, John "Jack" Gillespie, died March 21, 2013. Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Emily Petkunas McCarthy. Patty was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School and was a certified para-legal having worked for the law firm of Murphy. Piazza and Genello. She is survived by 1 brother, Joseph McCarthy, Hawaii, 1 uncle, Edmund Goodfield, Scranton, 1 brother in-law, William "Billy" Gillespie, Scranton, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also preceded in death by 1 brother, Mark McCarthy, 1 brother in-law, James Gillespie III, 1 sister in-law, Barbara Gillespie. Her funeral will be on Friday, with services at 10 am in the Edward J Chomko Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 262 Railroad Avenue, Scranton, with the Rev. Arthur Davis officiating. Entombment will follow in Cathedral Cemetery Mausoleum. Viewing for family and friends will be on Friday, 8:30 am until time of Services.
