Shirley M. Nidoh, 89, passed away at home on Tuesday. She is the widow of the late Stephen Nidoh who died on May 6, 1997, and the couple had been married for 38 years at the time of his passing. Born in Scranton, she is the daughter of the late Stephen and Doris Vaughn. Shirley was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School, a member of St. Vladimir Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church. During her working career, she started at Capitol Records, Old River Bakery and finally retired after many years from the Price Chopper on Luzerne Street in West Scranton.
Shirley was a member of St. Vladimir Church BVM Guild, the Youth Religious Instructor for many years, the quilting club, a kitchen volunteer for all church fund raisers as well as volunteering wherever needed within the church community.
She is survived by 3 sons, Stephen Nidoh, Mt. Cobb, Michael Nidoh and wife Louise, Jessup, Joseph Nidoh and wife Joanne, Dunmore. 5 Granddaughters, Ashlee, Amber, Sydnee, Megan and Michelle Nidoh, 1 great-granddaughter, Paisley Nidoh. 2 brothers, George Vaughn and wife Lucia, FL, Ronald Green, Scranton, Bonnie Nidoh, daughter inlaw, brother inlaw Bernard Pasco, Scranton, Ellen Williams, also considered a sister, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband Stephen, parents, 2 siblings, Phyllis and John & and Deborah Pasco who was considered a sister.
A Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Monday at 10:30 am, celebrated by the Rev. Fr. Myron Myronyuk, Pastor, at St. Vladimir Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church 430 N. 7th Avenue, Scranton. Interment will follow at the parish cemetery, Minooka. A viewing for family & friends will be on Sunday, 1 to 4 pm, with a Panachyda Service at 3:30 pm in the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home & Cremation Services LLC, 262 Railroad Avenue, West Scranton.
