Shirley Jean Peters, 65 of Taylor, passed on Thursday at Geisinger/CMC. Born in Scranton, she is the daughter of the late Teddy and Janet Ross. She was a high school graduate of the Scranton School District and employed as a nursing caretaker.
Caretaking didn't stop at work, but continued into her home life. She was an eternal mother figure to anyone who needed to be loved and for that many are left missing a piece of their hearts. Outside her children, her grandchildren were the center of her universe. She joyfully celebrated every big and small win and ensured they all were left knowing Nanny was their biggest fan. Many would say Shirley was stubborn. However, it was because she was determined to always be there for the ones she loved. She was a pet enthusiast and enjoyed countless nights snuggling her fur babies. Those of which already sense the lack of her presence. Her children are eternally grateful for the extra care her grandchildren Noah and Kate provided in her time of need.
She is survived by her husband Frederick Peters, sons; Paul Ross and wife Danielle, Clarks Summit, Teddy Ross and wife Amanda, MO, Ryan Ross and wife Jennifer, Dickson City, daughter, Nicole Parry, Moscow, 2 stepchildren; Alexa and Jake Peters, Taylor, 14 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, brother; Paul Ross, Scranton. She was predeceased by a son; Preston Ross, sisters; Pam Vorozilchak and Donna Engleman.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday 4 to 6:30 pm in the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 262 Railroad Avenue, West Scranton. A Blessing Service will be officiated at 6:30 pm by Fr. Joseph Kakareka.
