Obituary

Walter "Snops" Snopkosky Jr., 70, formerly of Glinko Street, in Keyser Valley, passed Thursday night, March 16, at the Gino J. Merli Veterans Center. Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Walter and Helen Michalek Snopkosky. Walter was a 1970 graduate of West Scranton High School, served in the United States Army, was a member of the North Scranton Polish Club and retired from Thomson Electronics. Walter had an avid interest in sports, especially basketball. He was extremely proud of his role on the 1970 championship basketball team at West Scranton High School.

He is survived by his daughter Tiffany Seidita and husband Mark, Covington Township, granddaughter, Morgan, grandson, Matthew, sister, Arlene Beck and husband Gerald, Hamlin. The family expresses sincere gratitude to the  entire staff at Gino Merli Veterans Center for providing the care and support to Walter over the last several years. They would also like to thank Traditional Hospice for providing Walter care during his final days. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday March 22 at 11 am at SS Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church, West Locust Street, Scranton, by the Rev. Fr. Richard Czachor, Pastor of Our Lady of Victory Parish, Tannersville. Visitation for family and friends will be in the church, 9 am until time of Mass. Interment will follow with Military Honors in SS Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Cemetery, Taylor. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Gino J. Merli Veterans Center, 401 Penn Avenue, Scranton, Pa 18503. Arrangements under the care and direction of the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 262 Railroad Avenue, West Scranton
